SUPERVISION

SUPERVISION

Neil is a clinically registered member and supervisor for PACFA (Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia) and CCAA (Christian Counsellors Association of Australia).  He provides both clinical supervision for therapists, supervision of supervision for supervisors and pastoral supervision for employed church workers at local and a denominational level.
Supervision is a formal and disciplined working alliance that is generally between the supervisor who operates in an objective and reflective space and the supervisee whose clinical work is reviewed and reflected upon. The aims of supervision are for: improving the supervisee's work with clients; ensuring client welfare; supporting the supervisee in relation to their work, and supporting the supervisee's professional development. Whilst supervisees may require guidance and direction at times, Neil views effective supervision as a collaborative process, wherein supervisees take an active role in: choosing what aspect of their practice to focus on and explore; determining how the supervisor-supervisee dyad works together; offering feedback about the experience of the supervisory process and the relationship and developing and being accountable to their own professional standards.
